Private piano lessons at Musikschule MAESTRO Dresden

Its original name, ‘Pianoforte’ (Italian: piano – soft, forte – loud), is owed to the piano’s extensive dynamic range. Its wide tonal range (usually 88 keys) also contributes to its status as the favorite keyboard instrument today. The main modern forms of the piano are the grand piano and the upright piano. The latter is often colloquially referred to simply as a ‘piano’.

At Musikschule MAESTRO, we offer piano lessons to all students from around the age of 5 who are interested in learning piano in Dresden and the surrounding area. Upon request, we also organize rhythm lessons for children from the age of 3 (groups of at least three students, available in German, Russian, or Polish).
Our experienced and highly qualified teachers ensure that even children who are not yet decided on a particular instrument fall in love with the magic of the piano keys. The offer for private piano lessons at Dresden’s Musikschule MAESTRO is not only for children but also for adults of all ages.
Within just a few weeks, you will be able to play simple musical pieces on your own. In fact, our record-holding beginner successfully performed ‘Für Elise’ perfectly after just one month. Regardless of your prior knowledge, we will help you fulfill your dreams, refresh forgotten skills, or even prepare you to play at your own wedding (true story!).
Musikschule MAESTRO Dresden is not only involved in private piano lessons. We also offer instrument rentals and can assist with purchasing instruments under favorable conditions and at affordable prices.

Frequently Asked Questions (Piano Keyboard):

Is there an age limit to start learning piano?

In the Far East, such as China, Japan, or South Korea, piano lessons often begin as early as age 3. In Europe, however, musical education typically starts a bit later. Therefore, it is highly recommended to enroll children for a trial lesson from the age of 5. There is no upper age limit, though. In Western Europe, adult beginners make up about half of the students.

At what age should one start keyboard lessons?

It all depends on the student’s prior piano experience. If a student has no prior experience (at least 6-12 months) with playing the piano before the first keyboard lesson, it would be advisable to first develop solid piano skills. A piano/e-piano and a keyboard differ significantly enough in playing technique that it does make a difference which instrument one starts with.

An acoustic piano or an electric piano? Which keyboard instrument should one buy?

In recent years, the quality of key mechanisms in electric pianos has made remarkable progress. Today, the technique of both instruments is quite similar, at least for student purposes. The price of an electric piano is, on average, significantly lower than that of an acoustic piano, and especially a grand piano. A new electric piano can be purchased for around €400, while the price of a newly manufactured acoustic piano is at least ten times higher. Additionally, an electric piano is much lighter (generally not exceeding 50 kg) and takes up less space.

Is it necessary to have an instrument?

A piano or electric piano is recommended. Otherwise, practicing between lessons is simply not possible.

How much does a lesson at Musikschule Maestro cost per month?

The detailed price list is available online under the ‘Price List‘ tab.

What do you need for piano lessons?

Basically, you don’t need anything. You can come to the trial lesson relaxed and ready. If you are more advanced, it would be helpful to bring the sheet music you have been using so far. For beginners, we will find suitable sheet music together.
